Dr Heiner Lehr will conduct a training on traceability systems

The Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza (IAMZ) has invited partner Dr Heiner Lehr as an expert on traceability of the food chain for a training session on March 2015.

The training will be done on the afternoon of Tuesday within the advanced short course INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES TO ENHANCE THE TRACEABILITY OF THE FOOD CHAIN that will be held in Zaragoza (Spain), 23-27 March 2015.

Heiner Lehr will be on charge of two sessions with the following topics: first, Traceability of food products of plant origin; second, Specific production systems (e.g. organic, quality label products, halal).

The conference cover several matters as legal frameworks on traceability, web-based technologies (e.g. TRACES), Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or Radio frequency identification, and will finalise with a round table discussion about applicability of innovative techniques and future trends in the Mediterranean region.

The IAMZ is one of the four institutes of The International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM) and intergovernmental organization composed of 13 Mediterranean countries (Albania, Algeria, Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Malta, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Tunisia and Turkey) whose objective is to promote cooperation in the Mediterranean region through training and cooperative research in the area of agriculture and natural resources. The other CIHEAM institutes are located in Montpellier (France), Bari (Italy) and Chania (Greece).
