Dr Heiner Lehr presents ALL-SMART-PIGS in Harrogate (UK)

Syntesa partner Dr Heiner Lehr has been invited to present the ALL-SMART-PIGS project at a Precision Pig Production event organized by the Royal Agricultural Society of England (RASE). The event will take place on 30 October 2013 in Harrogate (UK) as part of a precision livestock Initiative, showcasing the latest innovations and technologies in relation to indoor pig production.

The ALL-SMART-PIGS project (A Living Lab for SMART PIG farming)  wishes to demonstrate the technical and economic viability of precision livestock farming technologies in European pig farming. For this purpose the project partners will implement a selection of smart technologies related to growth, health and welfare of pigs on four European farms. Information gathered on farm will be shared securely with feed suppliers and slaughterhouses to allow optimisation of the total chain, in particular of feed. The project's thesis is that through improved detection of animal needs and better use of available information both animals and farmers can improve their livelihood. Syntesa is the project coordinator.

Committed to communicating ground breaking technology for the benefit of agriculture, the Royal Agricultural Society of England has established the "Innovation for Agriculture" initiative. Providing a knowledge transfer service for producers and the wider industry on the latest innovations and on farm technology. This involves helping co-ordinate the world of agricultural innovation through to adoption out on farm. This will involve working in collaboration with others and looking for opportunities to run joint events to take new technology out to the industry. The RASE is positioned at the front end of the technology adoption curve and picking up niche subjects.
